I'm keeping it simple this year. Not the usual page long to-do list for the upcoming year. Instead, I'm just making 4 simple resolutions:
1) Lose 25 pounds
2) Consistent diet and exercise to keep the weight off
3) Consistent Bible reading. (I usually study my Bible 3 or 4 times a week. My pastor challenged us to spend 30 minutes a day with God. Just 15 minutes of reading then 15 minutes in prayer. That's not a lot—very doable.)
4) Finish writing book 4.
How will I accomplish these goals? Well, I'm joining Curves tomorrow. I have new thyroid medicine that will hopefully counteract my slow thyroid function, and I started a big diet today. In exactly 3 months, I'm going on a Caribbean cruise, so that is a big incentive. And a whole bunch of us from work are doing a Biggest Loser contest. That's a second incentive. As usual, I don't think I'll have trouble losing the weight. The hard part begins when I get home from the cruise. How to keep that weight off? How do I continue the motivation?
To finish writing book 4, I'll need a lot of BOC time. In writer's speak, that stands for Butt On Chair. But, BOC time counteracts with consistent exercise. Hence my new Curves Membership. The Curves circuit workout takes 30 minutes and I can do it at lunch time. No way it should interfere with my BOC time.
So, I have a plan. Please God, give me the discipline to actually do it!
