God answers prayer even about finding the perfect dog. He gave me Ellie. She's 6 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, which is my favorite breed. They look like a puppy even when they are old. I've never owned one before, because the pups are super expensive. I had the opportunity to purchase a baby boy Cavalier for only $500, which is an amazing deal. But I really wanted to do a rescue, so I declined. And then I found this little beauty in a shelter in California with an urgent need for adoption. She was schedule to be euthanized in 5 days. She was found bleeding from bites on her head, neck, and ear. One even punctured her lung. You can actually feel air bubbles on her back when you pet her. Also, she was also a ratted mess. My sister went to the shelter and bought her for me, then put her on a plane the very next day.

She had a chip and her owners were called, but they didn't want her. They named her Maggie Mae, but I changed it to Ellie Mae. I took the little sweetie to Petsmart to be shaved. That would be far less painful than trying to brush out all those mats. She is adorable. I bought her a little sweater to keep her warm until her coat grows back out.
With one trip in and out the doggie door, Ellie was trained. She has not had a single accident in the house.
I think her prior owners neglected her, but didn't abuse her, because Elie isn't afraid or skittish. She loves to be in my lap and she's friendly to everyone. Her personality is so perfect, I really believe she is a gift to me from God!

Ellie needs to go obedience school to learn to come and stay, although if I have a treat in my hand, she obeys those commands. I just love her and praise God for this perfect little gift!
A huge thank you to my sister Connie who does Brittney Rescue in California. She is the one that got me interested in rescue. Connie did so much to help get Ellie in my home, thank you dear sister! I love you and bless you for the foster and rescue work that you do.
And if you are interested in rescuing a cavalier too, I know of 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels in Grants Pass that are with foster moms right now. They will be ready for adoption in a few weeks. My sister is fostering a beautiful Brittney that needs a good home too. So if anyone is interested, please let me know.
Blessings!
